Minimalist cosmetics: from the studio to the Etsy listing

A powder facial exfoliant in an aluminium bottle, sold on Etsy. On a marketplace full of handmade cosmetics, a listing competes with hundreds of similar products: the photograph is the only thing separating a considered brand from one that looks homemade.

What had to be right

Brushed aluminium without reflecting the whole studio. It’s the most unforgiving material: it returns everything in front of it and goes dead under the wrong light.

The label legible on a curved surface, with the type undistorted at the edges.

Water on the metal for the freshness frames, with droplets that stay where they’re put.

The powder itself visible — it’s what the customer is buying, and what she can’t touch before it arrives.

What we shot

Clean listing images for Etsy: the front, the label, the cap and the product open.

Still lifes on coloured backgrounds and on sand, in the brand’s own natural register.

A short product video, shot in the same session on the same lighting set-up.

What the brand got

Listing, social content and video from a single shoot. The images are live on their Etsy store today, where the product sells with a five-star rating.
